Patricia Elaine Steele, 72, passed peacefully into the hands of our Lord on October 28, 2017, while surrounded by her family after a ten month long courageous battle with health issues.
She was born March 17, 1945 in Oil City, the daughter of the late Fred M. and Wilda L. (Winger) Rosenberg.
Patt was an Oil City High School graduate.
Patt was a woman of strong faith always looking to God to lead the way and modeled the art of forgiveness. She was well known for always having a smile on her face and giving words of encouragement. She loved to document family genealogy and was actively involved in continuing the Winger and Rosenberg's intertwined family reunions. Patt loved tending to her flower gardens and was known for growing her rose bushes from clippings. She enjoyed reading, painting, sewing, crocheting, photography, her horses and making special foods for her family.
Always wanting to dabble in something new, Patt found herself working many different jobs while raising her family such as police dispatcher, nursing homes, country stores, volunteering at the fire department, even writing her own newspaper column designed to save homemakers money each week. After retiring she loved to take weekend birthday shopping trips with her daughters, and camp during “Cousin Campout” in the summers.
On May 17, 1973 she married Richard L. Steele who survives. Also surviving are four daughters, AuDean Horner and husband Matt of Dempseytown, Melissa Hogue and husband Dan of Oil City, Wendy Atha and husband Brad of Cochranton, and Elizabeth Steele and partner Curt Bellin of Cochranton, ten grandchildren; Erin Reed, Amber Horner, Jim May, Gina VanWormer, Danny Hogue, Stephanie Miller, Jacob Atha, Rachael Atha, India Steele and Angel Price, and twelve great grandchildren.
Also surviving are her brother Fred Rosenberg of Wyoming, sister Ruth Kron of New York, sister Francis Klimek of New York, and brother John Rosenberg of Petrolia.
In addition to her parents, Patt was preceded in passing by her sister Rebecca Rosenberg Kerr, a grandson Benjamin Horner, and a nephew Taft Naparsteck.
Family and friends will be received with a viewing on Thursday from 2-4 PM at STEPHEN P.
