On Thursday, August 5, 2021, Patricia Power, known to family and friends as “Nana”, passed away at her Meadville residence in the presence of her loving family and friends at the age of 93.
She was born to the late Lawrence and Gracie (Montgomery) Patterson on June 19, 1928 in Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania.
Nana was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Robert “Chopper” Power Sr. and is survived by her sons Robert Power Jr. and Ronald Power; her grandchildren Michelle Gearhart, Jennifer Richards, Michael Power, Phillip Power, and Joey Power; and her great grandchildren Jacob Gearhart, Cooper Gearhart, Colton Gearhart, Aleah Gearhart, Addison Power; and her sister Margeret Patterson-Deeter.
She worked for 40 years with her husband Robert at the accounting firm McGill Power Bell Associates in Meadville in a managerial and administrative capacity. Nana is known for possessing an ever present and infectious cheerful disposition, along with a genuine interest in, compassion for, and dedication to the well being of friends, co-workers, and associates alike. Her commitment to the greater Meadville area and her active energetic nature allowed her the honor of being able to serve the community late into life in such capacities as the Crawford County Fair Financial Committee, Meadville Medical Center Volunteer Organization, along with being a member of Stone United Methodist Church, as well as Meadville Country Club, Order of the Easter Star Golden Crown Chapter #44, and contributing to organizations such as the Special Olympics, and the Humane Society.
Her early 1990’s retirement allowed what was once an appreciation and interest in art, to blossom into a genuine talent in the production of hand painted and sewn porcelain dolls, and any visitor to her Meadville residence can attest to the truly prolific and prodigious artistic output her 11 years of classes allowed her to create. Retirement also afforded her the honor of raising four of the best dogs any bonified dog lover could hope for. She was preceded in death by two Brittany Spaniels “Charlie” and “Danny”; one loyal and loving rescue dog “Beau”, and she is survived by an adorable and charming Cavalier King Charles Spaniel “Titan”, a.k.a. “the People’s Champ”.
Much missed will be her presence as a loving mother, her duty to provide her grandchildren the guarantee of home, care, and compassion, and the simple solace of knowing her home was one place one always felt loved. Missed will be the friend, whose value for friendship, and appreciation of whatever relationships providence provides elicited her sincere respect. May Patricia’s essence that has touched us ever endure, her influence long linger, and may we learn to face life with the same courage, kindness, and love, in which She has faced death.
Family and friends are invited to call from 4-6 PM on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where Funeral Services will be held on Sunday at 1:30 PM with Rev. Sarah Roncolato, Pastor of Stone United Methodist Church, officiating.
Pat will be laid to rest next to her husband, Bob, in Cochranton Cemetery.
Donations can be made in Pat’s memory to Pennsylvania Special Olympics, Cedar Ridge Business Park, 200 Cedar Ridge Dr., Suite 214, Pittsburgh, PA 15205, the Humane Society of Crawford County, 11012 Kennedy Hill Rd. or the Academy Theater, 275 Chestnut St., both in Meadville, PA 16335.
