Paul A. Vogt, 85, of Saegertown, passed away Monday, November 28, 2022, at Crawford County Care Center.
Paul was born at home in Edinboro, on March 22, 1937, a son of the late Albert O. and Minnie (Krauter) Vogt.
On June 14, 1958, Paul married Flora E. Lane; she preceded him in death on July 29, 2019.
He was a member of Saegertown United Methodist Church.
After 44 years of service, Paul retired in 2000 from Agway Energy Products where he was employed as the HVAC Service Manager. He served his country honorably for eight years as a member of the US Navy Reserves. A 1955 graduate of Edinboro High School, Paul attended the former one room school house on Eureka Road in Edinboro through eighth grade. Paul served on the Saegertown Borough Council for eight years and on the Saegertown Sewer Authority Board for over 30 years. He was a founding member of Saegertown Sportsman Club where he had served as an officer and volunteered countless years in the kitchen. Paul had a passion for music and could play nearly any instrument but was an outstanding bass player. Over the years, he played live on the radio with the Pennsylvania Ramblers and semi professionally most of his life. He was a member of many bands including Grassfire, which was a Blue Grass Band and hosted the annual Blue Grass Festival held at the former Days Inn to support Hospice of Crawford County. This was a huge festival which brought in bands from all over the country. Among many other events, Paul played for the inauguration of Gov. Tom Ridge. Additionally Paul enjoyed teaching the bass and calling Square Dances. Paul's gifts were many and he was truly a "jack of all trades". If anyone needed something, Paul would be there at a moment's notice to fix anything. He will be sadly missed.
Paul is survived by three children Tim P. Vogt, Sr. (Deborah) of Meadville, Tammy Kerr (Bob) of Lancaster, Terry Vogt (Missy) of Saegertown; nine grandchildren Tim Vogt, Jr. (Pamela), Matthew Vogt (Brittany), Parker Kennelley, Michael Kerr (Carrie), Kayla Kerr, Lindsay Vogt (Dianne), Cari Lilly (Corey), Sydney Vogt, Damien Vogt, ten great grandchildren; a sister Eileen Russin (Denny) of Edinboro, many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Flora, of 61 years, Paul was preceded in death by two sisters Shirley Freimuth, Marjorie Netzler; two brothers William and Boyd, both who passed away as toddlers.
Family and friends are invited to call from 5-8 PM on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 330 BROAD ST., SAEGERTOWN, and also from 10-11 AM on Friday, December 2, 2022, at Saegertown United Methodist Church, 620 Euclid Ave., Saegertown, where Funeral Services will follow at 11 AM, with Pastor Jeff Little officiating.
Paul will be laid to rest next to his wife, Flora, in the Saegertown Cemetery.
