Paul E. Tomer

Paul E. Tomer, 70, of Guys Mills, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at Meadville Medical Center.

Paul was born in Meadville, on September 13, 1950, a son of the late George and Helen (Howard) Tomer.

On March 21, 1970 Paul married Betty Parkin; she survives. She always considered him the love of her life.

Paul was a member of New Richmond United Methodist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He also enjoyed singing for many years with the New Richmond Acapella Octet.

Paul was employed by Richmond Township as a road maintenance worker and also served as a township supervisor for many years. He loved taking care of the township roads and residents. Paul also drove school busses for PM Bussing and Penncrest School District for many years where he enjoyed all of his passengers. He especially enjoyed seeing his granddaughter, Hannah, at school and getting high fives from his granddaughter, Lilly. Additionally, along with his wife and two sons, he operated a dairy farm for 25 years. Paul was a US Army veteran and was honorably discharged after two years of service to his county. He was a 1968 graduate of Townville High School. Paul's family was very important to him and he loved his family's many gatherings. Having survived cancer in 2005, Paul was hoping for ten more years at that time; he did better than that, but noted chemo "is not for sissies". He also survived encephalitis in 2015 and again in 2018. He considered all the time since as "bonus time". He passed after a well lived, well loved, life, 1950-2020 and made" the dash" count. He will be sadly missed.

In addition to his wife, Betty, of 50 years, Paul is survived by two sons Doug Tomer and his wife Heather and their daughter Hannah; Scott Tomer and his wife Amanda and their daughter Lillian; two sisters Mary Lee Brooks, Judy Smock and her husband Ken; a brother John Tomer and his wife Vickie; many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at New Richmond United Methodist Church, 29776 Route 77, Guys Mills.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Paul's memory to New Richmond United Methodist Church, 29776 Route 77, Guys Mills, PA 16327.
