Philip Ralph Passilla

Mr. Philip Ralph Passilla, 97, of 756 Albright Dr., Meadville, passed away Wednesday, June 16th, 2010 at Meadville Medical Center.
Philip was born in Meadville on April 30, 1913, a son of the late John and Raffaelina (Tartaglione) Posillipo.
On September 16, 1933 Philip married Rose Marie Toppo; she preceded him in death on July 17, 2002.
He was a member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, Meadville, and while living in Florida, he was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church.
From 1942 until 1971 Philip and his wife, Rose, owned and operated the former Phils Grill in Meadville. He and Rose resided in Florida from 1971 until their return to Meadville in 2001. While living in Florida, Philip was employed by Walt Disney World for five years. During WW II Philip was employed by the Erie Railroad. He attended Meadville Schools. One of the charter members of the Italian Civic Club (ICC), Philip was also a member of the Eagles Club. In his earlier years Philip was an outstanding baseball player and enjoyed playing baseball for the Meadville Merchants and the ICC.
Philip is survived by two sons James Philip Passilla and his wife Lynne of Windermere, FL, Philip A. Passilla and his wife Nila of Meadville, seven grandchildren Anne Marie Spragg, James Philip Passilla, Jr., Michael Kennedy Passilla, Connie Lynne Montgomery, Philip Allen Passilla, Robin Marie Bocuse, Erin Marie Jackson, 15 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife Rose of 68 years, Philip was preceded in death by two brothers Tony Passilla, Jim Passilla, four half sisters Philomena Roberts, Vera Lewis, Josephine Dalessio, Virginia Limano, two half brothers Ralph Posillipo, Tony Posillipo, a step sister Raffaelina Iodice and a step brother Michael Fucci.
Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday from 6-9 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, Pa 16335 where a scripture service will be conducted at 8:45 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 21, 2010, with Fr. Raymond Gramata, Pastor of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, officiating.
Interment will take place in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St. or Wesbury United Methodist Community, 31 N. Park Ave, both of Meadville, PA 16335.
