Phillip L. Pond

Phillip L. Pond, 78, of Saegertown, passed away Thursday, July 15, 2021, at home.

Phillip was born in Nicholson, on April 29, 1943, a son of the late Edward O. and Evelyn (Corby) Pond.

On June 25, 1970 Phillip married Rebecca J. Morrison; she survives.

He was of the Methodist Faith.

Phillip was a veteran of the US Army entering in 1960 and retiring in 1983 after 23 years of service to his country. During this time he obtained the rank of Sgt. 1st class, served two tours in Vietnam and was a Bronze Star Medal recipient. In addition to Vietnam, Phillip was stationed in Germany, South Korea, Virginia and Oklahoma. Phillip enjoyed working on cars, hunting and had a passion for fishing. His greatest enjoyment came from the time spent with family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Rebecca of 51 years, Phillip is survived by a son Phillip D. Pond (Judy Phillips significant other) of Saegertown, four grandchildren Phillip Edward Pond (Amy), Jacob Lewis Pond (Renee Dalbec significant other), Rebecca Snyder, Alan Shuhayda, two great grandchildren Phillip Benjamin Pond, Delilah Mae Pond, a sister Donna Jeffers of Scranton, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by a brother James Pond and a nephew Dean Pond.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 330 BROAD STREET, SAEGERTOWN, PA.

Phillip will be laid to rest in Saegertown Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Phillips honor to any veterans organization.
