Ralph "Jim" E. Watson, 92, of Saegertown, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Crawford County Care Center.
Jim was born in Girard, on November 15, 1928, a son of the late Blaine and Thora (Davis) Watson.
On June 20, 1953 Jim married Donna J. Lowry; she preceded him in death on December 25, 2003.
Jim retired from the Maintenance Department of the former Avtex Corp in 1985 after 40 years of service. He had attended schools in Edinboro, Saegertown and Linesville and was a member of the first class of Crawford County to earn his GED. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, Jim entered the US Army in September, 1948 and served his country honorably until his discharge in September, 1951. He was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal as well as the Korean Service Medal with five Bronze Stars. He had a love and passion for farming as well as for horses.
Jim is survived by a son Gary A. Watson (Carolyn) of Parker, CO, a daughter Kathy Dale (Michael) of Cochranton; four grandchildren Sarah Collins of Dover, DE, Kendall Hyde of Saegertown, Summer Casselberry of Oakmont, Neil Watson of Midland, TX; three great grandchildren Noah Young, Elliot Collins and Crosby Collins.
In addition to his parents and his wife Donna of 50 years, Jim was preceded in death by four brothers George Watson, Robert Watson, George Schmitt, Howard Schmitt; and a dear friend Joyce Haemer.
A graveside service with Full Military Honors by WFW Post #2006, will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Venango Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Venango, with Rev. Mark Fischer, Pastor of Twelve Apostles Lutheran Church, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Jim's memory to Saegertown Volunteer Fire Dept., PO Box 164, Saegertown, PA 16433 or charity of donor's choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC, 330 BROAD ST., SAEGERTOWN.
