Raymond Albert Lewis Tipton

Raymond Albert Lewis Tipton, 99, of 4986 State Hwy 173 Cochranton, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Marquette Hospice House, Meadville.

Raymond was born at home in Bowling Green, Ohio on June 23, 1916, a son of the late Claude Emerson and Maude May (Ellsworth) Tipton.

On June 9 1940, Raymond married Martha E. Shull, she preceded him in death on January 31, 2002.

Raymond gave his life to the Lord at the age of 9 and over the years was affiliated The Free Methodist Church in Bowling Green, Ohio, the Springboro Church of the Nazarene, the Wesleyan Methodist Church, the American Rescue Workers and Sheakleyville Church of the Nazarene.

Raymond retired in 1981 from the former Avtex Corp. Over the years he had been employed by the former F.M.C., American Viscose, and Westinghouse. During these years he also worked on his dairy farm where he would still milk by hand. Following his retirement in 1981 he continued to work part time at Avtex and would help his son Myron with his business Tiptons Electric H.V.A.C. Raymond loved music, playing the guitar, singing and reciting poetry with his wife Martha which brought pleasure to many family and friends. Raymond will be remembered as a hardworking man who loved his family. He will be missed.

Raymond is survived by three sons Rev. Duane E. Tipton and his wife Katherine June of Wendell, NC, Myron D. Tipton and his wife Diana of Cochranton, Dr. Raymond Tipton of FL, 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife Martha of 61 years, Raymond was preceded in death by two daughters Rachel Carpenter and Rebecca D. Tipton. a sister Lauretta, three brothers Robert, Ellsworth and Vonden.

Family and friends are invited to call Saturday from 6 - 8 PM and on Sunday from 2-3 PM at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut Street Meadville, where funeral services will will follow at 3:00 PM with Rev. Marshall Lillie, pastor of Conneaut Valley Church of the Nazarene and Hospice of Crawford County, Paul Houseworth of Wesleyan Methodist Church and Lisa Grabb of the Sheakleyville Church of the Nazarene.

Raymond will be laid to rest next to his wife Martha in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Crawford County or Marquette Hospice House both at 464 Pine St. Meadville, PA 16335 .
