Raymond W. Smith

Raymond W. Smith, Jr., 75, of 14635 State Hwy. 198, Meadville, passed away Saturday, October 22nd, 2011 at home.
Raymond was born in Meadville on June 25, 1936, a son of the late Raymond W. and Margaret Nellie (Shepard) Smith, Sr.
On February 4, 1961 Raymond married Twila Emma Dahle; she preceded him in death on December 16, 2000.
He was of the Methodist Faith.
From the mid 1990s until the present time Raymond was employed by Franklin Bronze and Alloy in the Security Department. In 1986 he retired from the former Avtex Fiber Corporation, formerly known as F.M.C. Corp., where he had been employed since 1968. There he began working in the labor gang before working his way up to managing the Power House. Following his marriage to Twila, they lived in California for a brief period. A 1954 graduate of Meadville High School, Raymond also attended Allegheny College. Raymond was a member of the N.R.A and had a passion for firearms. His other hobbies and interests included history, reading and walking in the woods.
Raymond is survived by a son Michael W. Smith and his wife Diane L. of Meadville, two grandchildren Sarah and Daniel Smith of Meadville and a step granddaughter Kimberly Tartamella of CA.
In addition to his parents and his wife Twila of 39 years, Raymond was preceded in death by a step daughter Nancy Smith and a sister Carolyn K. Smith.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
