Rebecca "Becky" Ann Berkstresser

Rebecca "Becky" Ann Berkstresser, 61, of Meadville, passed away Monday, July 29, 2024, at home.

Becky was born in North Kingsville, OH, on April 19, 1963, a daughter of the late Robert and Beverly (Allemeier) Skarlinski.

On October 15, 1988 Becky married Thomas "Tom" J. Berkstresser; he preceded her in death on December 28, 2020. 

She was affiliated with French Creek Community Church. 

Becky graduated from Edinboro University with both her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Speech and Hearing Pathology. She began her working career as a Traveling Speech Pathologist in the Meadville and Erie areas, and later became employed by Wesbury and Rolling Fields, retiring in January, 2024. She also did part time work as an audiologist helping fit young people with hearing aids, which she really enjoyed. Becky served as a board member for Women's Services and volunteered at the Meadville Soup Kitchen. She loved spending time with her granddaughter, Rue. Becky possessed a great sense of humor and was a staple of her core group of therapists. She became a mentor to many young therapists and was looked upon as a mother figure. Becky was never judgmental and had a caring heart. She will be missed. 

Becky is survived by two children Max C. Berkstresser (Emma) of Meadville, Lydia G. Whitesell (Trenton) of Erie; a beloved granddaughter Rue Whitesell; siblings Carolyn Holden (Phil) of Kingsville, OH, Robert Skarlinski (Theresa) of Rock Hill, SC, Michael Skarlinski of Erie; nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Tom, of 32 years, Becky was preceded in death by a brother Daniel Skarlinski.

Private services will be held.

Memorial contributions may be made in Becky's name to Humane Society of Crawford County, 11012 Kennedy Hill Road, Meadville, PA 16335.
