Rex Delano Griffith

Rex Delano Griffith, Jr., 85, of 11899 Thurston Rd., Meadville, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Wesbury United Methodist Community.

Rex was born in Meadville, on April 22, 1933, a son of the late Rex A. and Alice (Hanzi) Griffith Snyder.

On March 6, 1961 Rex married Patricia A. Dickson; she preceded him in death on July 13, 2009.

He and his wife had attended Emmanuel Community Church, Meadville.

In 1992 Rex retired as a Manager in the Planning Department of the former Talon, Inc. of Meadville, where he had been employed for over 35 years. A 1952 graduate of Meadville High School, Rex was an outstanding athlete who ran track, was a member of the basketball team and the starting football team quarterback. He enjoyed being a member of many social clubs including the ICC, Meadville Sertoma, Taylor Hose, Elks PBO #219, VFW Post #2006, and the former Meadville Club. A sports enthusiast, Rex enjoyed closely following all sports especially college football. Notre Dame was his #1 college team with the Pittsburgh Steelers taking first place as his favorite professional football team. He equally enjoyed meticulously following the odds and spreads of sporting events. Time with family and friends was very important to him. He will be sadly missed.

Rex is survived by his daughter Kerry S. Risco and her husband Carlos E. of Meadville, two grandsons Carlos A. Risco, Juan Risco, a sister Marilyn "Mallie" Duge and her husband Tod of West Lake, OH.

In addition to his parents and wife, Patricia, of 48 years, Rex was preceded in death by a sister Shirley Larson.

Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday from 10-1 at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST. MEADVILLE, where Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM with Rev. Dr. Timothy M. Solomon officiating.

Rex will be laid to rest with his wife, Patricia, in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
