Richard "Dick" E. Atkins

Richard "Dick" E. Atkins, 70, of Meadville, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019, at home surrounded by his family .

Dick was born in Meadville, on April 1, 1949, a son of the late Cecil and Betty J. (Yokes) Atkins.

On October 3, 1969 Dick married Debby Nichols; she survives.

A life long mixologist, Dick worked in the hospitality industry throughout the Meadville, Erie, Venango County and Conneaut Lake areas. In his very early years he was employed by Prudential Insurance. Dick was a veteran, having served his country during the Vietnam era from February 18, 1969 until his honorable discharge on February 19, 1971. He was a collector of all types of sports cards, especially baseball.

In addition to his wife Debby, of 49 years, Dick is survived by three children Gregory P. Atkins of Meadville, Richard E. Atkins, Sr. (Melissa) of Guys Mills, Nichole R. Bradshaw of Smithfield, NC, nine grandchildren Kelsey Atkins, Channing Jones, Daphne Atkins, Riley Atkins, Richard E. Atkins, Jr., Adia Bradshaw, Lila Bradshaw, Gideon Bradshaw, Mattie Bradshaw, one great granddaughter Brooklyn Atkins, his mother in law June Nichols of Meadville, and four nieces.

In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by a sister Nancy Murdock and his father in law Howard Nichols.

Per Dick's wishes, no services are being planned.
