Richard J. Bradley

Richard J. Bradley, age 81, was carried to Heaven Saturday, February 10, 2024.

He was born in Meadville, on November 5, 1942, the firstborn son of Gaylord Bradley and Helen (Hock) Bradley.

He married Sheila Murphy on October 19, 1991.

From ninth grade until graduation from Meadville High School, Class of 1963, Richard worked at Quality Market on North Street. Subsequently he embarked upon his apprenticeship to become a Journeyman Pipefitter while working at the American Viscose, completing his training in 1965. Upon certification, he spent two years working at Talon, Inc. He then continued pursuing his trade in the construction industry, securing work through local 47 (now Local 449) Pipefitters Union for over thirty years.

Upon retirement Richard loved spending time on his beloved "Ponderosa," which he very proudly built himself. He was an avid news reader and he especially loved working the daily "Crytopquote" in the paper. Well versed in all manner of current events, he always enjoyed a "lively debate" on any news topic. With his wonderful sense of humor he was more than willing to share a good joke. He was a lifetime member of the former Meadville Club, and Elks Lodge #219. He also belonged to the Kismet Grotto, Masonic Lodge #234, and Saegertown American Legion Post #205. He was a former social member of the Italian Civic Club, Eagles Club #429, Vernon Volunteer Fire Department, VFW Post #2006, and West Mead #2 Fire Department. He was a member of St. Brigid Church.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, of 32+ years, Sheila. He also leaves two children Kimberly (Kenneth) Hoffman, and James R. Bradley; three grandchildren Rebecca Hoffman, James B. Bradley and Jennifer Hoffman. He is further survived by two brothers Gary of Linesville, Ronald (Barbara) of Meadville; brothers in law Mark (Betsy) Murphy of Saegertown, Stan Shesky; several nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by dear friends Tom and Patty McClintock of Erie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Jean Moses, Donna Shesky, Carolyn Ezor, Michael Bradley; sisters in law Patricia Murphy Sobota, Margaret Bradley; brothers in law Fred Ezor, and Frank Sobota.

As per Richard's wishes, services and burial at St. Agatha Cemetery will be private.
