Richard James Offi, 71, of 22902 State Hwy. 198, Saegertown, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2015, at UPMC-Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Richard was born in Meadville, on March 5, 1944, a son of the late Thomas and Agnes (Beers) Offi.
On September 18, 1965 Richard married Lorraine Bengivenga; she survives.
In 1998 Richard established Offi Tool. Although recently semi-retired, Richard could often be found in the shop with his son, Richard. In his earlier years he was employed by Micro Tool of Meadville, Reitz Tool & Die of Cochranton and the former American Breakshoe. A US veteran, Richard entered the Navy on May 25, 1961 and served his country honorably until his discharge on March 4, 1965. A member of A.B.A.T.E., Saegertown American Legion Post #205, VFW Post #2006, the Meadville Club, the Italian Civic Club, and Vernon Central #19, in his earlier years he was a member of Meadville Eagles and Meadville Elks Club. He enjoyed riding his bike, riding his motorcycle, deer hunting, turkey hunting, dancing, especially to the oldies and he was known to many as a pool shark for his sharp pool playing skills. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather with a great sense of humor.
In addition to his wife Lorraine, of 49 years, Richard is survived by a son Richard Anthony Offi and his wife Trisha of Saegertown, a daughter Gina Marie Offi of Los Angeles, CA, three grandchildren Dominic Robert Offi, Felisha Nicole Offi, Anthony Floyd Offi, three brothers Thomas Arden Offi and his wife Patty of Meadville, Bruce Madison Offi and his wife Carol of North Carolina, Brian Michael Offi and his wife Val of Copperopolis, CA, two half brothers David Miller and his wife Heather of Meadville, William Miller of Conneautville, many nieces, nephews, and his beloved dog T.J.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a half brother, Jerry Miller.
Family and friends are invited to call on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where a Scripture Service will be held at 4 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 9, with Fr. Matthew Kujawinski, Pastor, officiating. Full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006 will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital of Erie, 1645 W. 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505.
