Richard "Rich" J. Krasa, 76, of 18283 Cree St., Meadville, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at home surrounded by his family.
Rich was born in Meadville, on March 7, 1942, a son of the late William and Elizabeth (McFetridge) Krasa.
On April 11, 1964 Rich married Iva ReBrassier; she survives. Their love for one another began five years prior to their marriage.
He was a member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, Meadville.
Rich retired from the Meadville Tribune as a Pressman where he had been employed since 1963. Following his retirement, he continued working at the Meadville Tribune part-time. Before working at the Tribune he was employed by the former American Viscose for one year after his 1961 graduation from Meadvillle High School. Always a hard worker, Rich worked two jobs most of his life, beginning at the age of 12 when he worked in the family business, Krasa Service Station in Fifth Ward. Rich devoted many years and much energy to Vernon Baseball at Roche Park, having coached numerous teams, prepped many fields and encouraged many young athletes. His efforts, along side his wife, Iva, led to the establishing of Vernon Girls Softball. Because of his dedication, the first baseball field that is seen when entering Roche Park was named after him. Rich enjoyed hunting, fishing and following all Pittsburgh sports teams. His greatest joy in life was his family, especially his grandchildren. A quiet and gentle man, Rich was greater than one in a million. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife, Iva, Rich is survived by three children Troy Krasa and his wife Laurie, Keith Krasa, Mandy Krasa, all of Meadville, five beloved grandchildren Felicia Krasa, Tiffany Krasa, Logan Krasa who is currently active with the United States Marine Corp, Riley Krasa, Kaden Powell, and a sister Sherrand Romyn of Haymarket, VA.
In addition to his parents, Rich was preceded in death by a brother William "Billy" Krasa, a sister Diane Urbanick and a niece Debbie Urbanick.
As per Rich's wishes, no services will be held.
