Robert 'Bob' E. Shaffer

Robert 'Bob' E. Shaffer, 42, of 15771 Limber Rd., Meadville, passed away Friday, March 15th, 2013 at home.
Bob was born in Meadville on September 26, 1970, a son of Edwin F. and Joyce (Burge) Shaffer.
On November 30, 1991 Bob married Rita F. Jordan; she survives.
He attended Saegertown United Methodist Church.
Bob was employed as an MRI Supervisor at Meadville Medical Center, where he was a Certified Radiology Technician in X-Ray, CT Scan and MRI. He began working there in 2004 after moving back to the Meadville/Saegertown area. A US Air Force veteran, Bobs 15 years of honorable duty to his country included ten years of active service, which included time spent in the Persian Gulf War, as well as five years of duty in the US Air Force Reserves. Bob loved being outdoors kayaking, hunting, fishing and he particularly enjoyed the experience of skiing in the Swiss Alps while living in Germany. He also enjoyed woodworking and bowling, but what he enjoyed most of all was spending time with his entire family, especially his grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife Rita of 21 years, Bob is survived by a son Jared Shaffer at home, a stepson Kenny King and his wife Stacey of Vermont, three grandchildren Toren, Cyrus, Mia, his parents Edwin and Joyce Shaffer of Saegertown, a sister Sandy Peters and her husband Mark of Saegertown, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jordan Shaffer, his maternal grandparents Donald and Ruth Burge, paternal grandparents Elmer and Mildred Shaffer and maternal step grandmother Isla Burge.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 from 1-4 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St. Meadville.
A Memorial Service will be held later that evening at Saegertown United Methodist Church, 630 Euclid Ave., Saegertown, at 7:00 PM with Rev. Darrell L. Greenawalt, Pastor, officiating.
Interment with Full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006 will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, in Venango Cemetery.
