Robert (Bob) H. Crooks

Robert (Bob) H. Crooks, 90, Sunnyside Avenue, Meadville, died Monday, January 2, 2017, at Park Avenue Rehabilitation and Nursing.  

He was born on April 18, 1926, in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania, son of the late Viola (Jones) Crooks Rearick and Charles Raymond Crooks.  

He is survived by his loving wife, the former Phyllis G. Shoemaker, whom he married October 7, 1950, at First Lutheran Church, Apollo; brother Charles Raymond Crooks; daughters Phyllis J. Miller (Jim), Saegertown; and Cynthia A. Silvis (Craig), Midland, MI; grandchildren Kimberly A. Sherretts (Joshua), Meadville; Laura A. Silvis, Grand Rapids, MI; and Thomas C. Silvis, New York City, NY; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by stepfather Vernon Rearick; brothers Richard Crooks; William P. Crooks, Apollo; and sister Phyllis Bibza, Natrona Heights.

Robert served his country in the Army during World War II. Following his discharge, he worked at Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation, retiring in 1986. He served as a volunteer fireman and ambulance driver in his community for many years.  He was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing, bowling, and bus trips with his wife.   He loved spending time with his family and in his beloved garden.  He was a former member of Faith Lutheran Church where he was active on Church Council; and was a current member of Twelve Apostles Lutheran Church.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, January 5, 2017, from 1-3 PM at Twelve Apostles Lutheran Church, 358 Euclid Ave., Saegertown, where Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM with Rev. Mark Fischer, Pastor, officiating. Full Military Honors by VF W Post #2006 will follow.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Twelve Apostles Lutheran Church, PO Box 640, Saegertown, PA 16433. 

Robert will be laid to rest in Riverview Cemetery, Apollo.
