Robert Wayne Wright, Jr., 39, passed away peacefully at home after a lengthy courageous battle with cancer on May 26, 2016.
Bob was born March 22, 1977, son of Robert Wright Sr. and Sara (Hecker) Wright.
Bob was a large presence, both literally and figuratively. He enjoyed being a leader. He had a big heart and a big frame, at 6'4”. This served him well athletically. Wrestling was his favorite sport. He was PA Junior Wrestling Champion, and wrestled at Saegertown Area High School (1995 graduate), Allegheny College and Edinboro University (Bachelor of Arts). He shared his love of wrestling by coaching others. Bob also played football and baseball, where he was known for pitching “junk”. During his youth he was active in 4-H, raising pigs and one special lamb-Clover. He loved to be with his friends, playing paintball, golf, video games, and hunting.
Before his illness, Bob loved his work as a Large Loss Fire Investigator. He married the love of his life, Katie (Frisina) August 19, 2006. She devoted herself to taking care of Bob during his illness. Her love and constant support, as well as Bob's sheer willpower and a healthy dose of stubbornness is why he was able to fight longer than anyone could have thought possible.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Katie, devoted dog Madison, parents Sara Wright, Robert Wright Sr. (Marilyn Moore), brother Randy Wright and sisters Debbie Wright and Cindi Wright (Fred Manville Jr.) He is also survived by his dear in-laws Chris and Bill Frisina, Lisa and Brad Schultz, nieces Cassie (his Favorite Frisina), Kyra and Kayleigh, Andrew Frisina, and nephews Jackson and Colin.
Bob was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Lewis and Esther Wright, maternal grandmother Helen Hecker, great uncle Gene Wright, and close friends also gone too soon: Brad Copeland, Julian Perry and Amanda Orr.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the medical staff who provided such good care over his illness, especially Dr. Fallin, who made home visits, even on his day off, and visiting nurses Camille Copeland and Judy Randall who cared for Bob as if he were one of their own. We would like to thank all those who provided emotional and financial support, including the Venango VFW and Cambridge Springs American Legion.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Venango VFW at a date to be announced later.
In lieu of flowers and memorials, it was Bob's wish for others' to take care of their health now and get a colonoscopy for early detection.
Arrangements are under the direction of Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 330 Broad St., Saegertown.
