Ronald E. Minnick, 68, of 11016 Star Route Estates, Meadville, passed away Tuesday, June 19th, 2012 at home with his family by his side.
Ronald was born in Green Spring, WV on September 8, 1943, a son of the late Ralph K. and Virginia (Logston) Minnick.
On April 2, 1976, Ronald married Joan M. Lang; she survives.
He was a member of New Beginnings Church of God, Meadville.
A self-employed semi truck driver, Ronald traveled all over the United States, retiring in 2002. He had previously been employed by Arctic Expressway and Dart. His entire working career was spent driving trucks, something at which he was very skilled, but more importantly, he loved doing. He attended Saegertown High School. Ronald entered the US Army on February 13, 1967 and served his country during the Vietnam Conflict, for which he was awarded a Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged on September 23, 1968. He was a member of VFW Post #2006, Saegertown American Legion Post #205 and the Meadville Eagles Club. When Ronald was not on the road he enjoyed spending his time with his wife, children, grandchildren and three dogs.
In addition to his wife, Joan, of 36 years, Ronald is survived by five children Crystal Cummings and her husband Dale of Saegertown, Anthony Charles Smith and his wife Kelly of Batavia, NY, Travis Minnick, Carrie Dross both of Meadville, US Air Force Staff Sgt. Aaron Minnick and his wife Jennifer of Travis Air Force Base, CA, 13 grandchildren Justin, Joshua, Ryan, Brittany, Anthony, Jr. 'AJ', Daniel, Hunter, Brooke, Aaron, Cassandra, Julianne, Tyana, Matthew and a great grandchild Addysan.
In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by an infant daughter Kelly Ann Minnick.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, June 22, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, PA 16335.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday at New Beginnings Church of God, 13226 Leslie Rd., Meadville, with Pastor Temple Jarrell officiating.
Interment with Full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006 will take place in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
