Ronald Eugene Koffman, 72, of Cochranton, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at home.
Ronald was born in Iselin, on August 18, 1949, a son of the late Charles K. and Mary (Garlitz) Koffman.
In October, 1987, Ronald married Katherine Anthony; she preceded him in death on March 12, 2004.
Ronald attended school in Iselin before entering the US Marine Corps on August 30, 1966. He served his country during the Vietnam War and was the recipient of three Purple Hearts, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with one Star, the Combat Action Ribbon, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was honorably discharged on June 20, 1969. Over the years Ronald had been employed by PPG Industries in Meadville, in the coal mines in Kittanning, as a long haul truck driver and was currently driving truck for Kebert Construction Company in Meadville. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post #2006. His hobbies included working in his vegetable garden and in his younger years hunting and fly fishing. When he was indoors, he enjoyed watching movies; the classics from the 80's and 90's were his favorite. He looked forward to playing cards, especially Texas Hold'em, on Friday nights with his friends. Ron had a soft spot for dogs. He liked raising and showing his champion Treeing Walker Coonhounds and was currently enjoying looking after his Pit Bull pup, Pluto, who he rescued from the Anna Shelter.
Ronald is survived by two children Rita Swogger (Scott) of Cochranton, Casey Koffman (Jennifer) of Meadville; three grandchildren Samantha Vanderhoff, Jordan Vanderhoff, Libby Koffman; a sister Kathy "Kitty" Koffman of Oil City; three brothers Raymond Koffman of Clarksburg, Jim Koffman of Worthington, Larry Koffman of Adrian; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife Katherine, Ronald was preceded in death by two sisters Sherry Koffman, Sandy McCollough; three brothers Thomas Koffman, Donald Koffman, and Danny Koffman.
Family and friends are invited to call from 4-7 PM on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 11 AM with Rev. Jeff Conley officiating. Full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006 will follow.
