Ronald Metz Wiestling, 84, of 9541 US Hwy. 6, Conneaut Lake, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2015, at Meadville Medical Center.

Ronald was born at his grandmother's home in Brady Twp., Huntingdon County, on October 12, 1930, a son of the late Leroy O. and Janet (Metz) Wiestling. At the age of eleven, he and his family relocated to Saegertown.

On February 12, 1954 Ronald married Nova Jean Rudd; she survives.

He was of the Protestant Faith.

In 1990 Ronald retired from Palomar College in San Marcos, CA, as a Mathematics teacher and Math Department Chairman. During his 35 year teaching career he had also taught mathematics at Fallbrook High School where he was also a football coach and West Covina High School where he was also a football and basketball coach. Prior to that he taught at Baldwin Park High School. His teaching career began in 1953 at the former Townville High School where he taught math for one year before entering the Armed Forces. He was inducted into the US Army on July 22, 1954 and served his country honorably until his discharge on July 20, 1956. He remained in California throughout his teaching career. A 1948 graduate of Saegertown High School, Ronald was a basketball star. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from Edinboro State College in January of 1953 and later earned his Master's Degree in Education from California State University, Los Angeles. A life member of the National Education Association, he had also a member of the National Rifle Association, Conneaut Lake VFD-Station 3 and Conneaut Lake Park VFD-Station 5. A sports enthusiast, Ronald enjoyed following football and basketball, especially college games. He equally enjoyed coaching both. He loved all types of music, but jazz was his favorite and he delighted in dancing with his wife, Nova. Together they drove their motor home to camp and participate in jazz events. Ronald will be remembered as a great problem solver. He will be sadly missed.

In addition to his wife, Nova, of 61 years Ronald is survived by a son Jay Ronald Wiestling and his wife Pam of Carlsbad, CA, a daughter Shanon Beach of Bonsall, CA, four grandchildren Jayson, Brooke, Kayln and Taylor.

In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by a brother Jack Wiestling.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of family.

Memorial contributions may be made to Conneaut Lake VFD 7-Station 3, 10833 PA 18, or Conneaut Lake Park VFD-Station 5, 11965 State Hwy. 618, both in Conneaut Lake, PA 16316.
