Rosella 'Rosie' C. Heil

Rosella 'Rosie' C. Heil, 81, of 17526 Mullen Rd., Meadville, passed away Friday, April 20th, 2012 at home.
Rosie was born in Meadville on April 1, 1931, a daughter of the late Albert J. and Catherine (Newkam) Heil.
She was a lifetime member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, Meadville.
In 1979 Rosie retired as Lt. Col. after 20 years of service in the Air Force Nurse Corps, having served during the Vietnam Conflict and as a Flight Nurse in Europe, Japan and Vietnam. She also served as Liaison Officer for the Air Force Reserve Unit in Little Rock, AR as well as Nurse Consultant to the Ostomy Association of Panama City, FL. She was very proud to have served honorably in the military, as did her father and brothers. Rosie was a 1949 graduate of the former St. Agatha School and a 1953 graduate of the former Spencer Hospital School of Nursing. She served on the Vernon Twp. Water Authority Board for more than ten years. A lifetime member of VFW Post #2006, she was also a lifetime member of American Legion Post #111.
Through her Air Force journeys, she traveled all over Europe, The Holy Land, Libya, Casablanca, Yugoslavia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, East Berlin and climbed Mt. Vesuvius in Naples, Italy. The gypsy in her soul has taken her to her final and most beautiful place, with a stop over prior.
Rosie is survived by a sister-in-law Helen Heil, nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers Bill, Fred, Albert and a sister Theresa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 23, 2012, at St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine St., Meadville, with Fr. Matthew Kujawinski, Pastor, officiating.
Interment with Full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006 will take place in St. Agatha Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
