Roy E. Artman

Roy E. Artman, 79, of 681 Ellis Ave., Meadville, passed away Tuesday, July 5th, at home.
Roy was born in Tarentum on June 23, 1932, a son of the late Richard and Pauline (Campbell) Artman.
On July 23, 1955, Roy married Millie Samaj; she survives.
He was a member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, Meadville.
After 37 years of service, Roy retired in 1991 from PPG Industries. Following his retirement he continued to do consulting work for them. A veteran of the US Marine Corps, Roy served his country during the Korean Conflict from July 27, 1950 until his honorable discharge on July 26, 1954. He had attained the rank of Sergeant. Roy enjoyed gardening, working outdoors and taking canoe trips. He will be remembered for his dedication and devotion to his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Millie of 55 years, Roy is survived by three children Roy Artman of Meadville, Daniel Artman and his wife Mary Ellen of Pittsburgh, Nancy Metz and her husband Greg of Greensburg, nine grandchildren Brooke Artman, Luke Artman, John Artman, Jeremy Artman, Ryan Artman, Adam Artman, Casey Collier, Clay Metz, Olivia Metz, one great grandson Dominik Artman, a sister Zoe Lauer of Natrona Heights, numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by two sons Thomas Edward Artman, Howard W. 'Doc' Artman, three sisters Shirley, Alice and Jean.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville, at 11:30 AM on Friday, July 8th, 2011, with Fr. Mark OHern, Pastor, officiating.
Interment with Full Military Honors by VFW Post 2006, will take place in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville, PA 16335 or a charity of the donors choice.
