Roy M. Artman, 56, of 681 Ellis Ave., Meadville, passed away suddenly on Monday, August 4, 2014, of natural causes.

Roy was born in Tarentum, on August 25, 1957, a son of Mildred 'Millie' (Samaj) Artman and the late Roy E. Artman.

He was a member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, Meadville.

Earlier this year Roy retired as a Supervisor from Pittsburgh Glass Works (PGW), formerly known as PPG Industries. He began his employment there following his 1975 graduation from Meadville High School. For many years he was a member of the PPG softball team and also played for other teams. Roy was a member of the Meadville YMCA. He enjoyed reading and canoeing, especially with his father. Roy will be remembered for his sense of humor and for being a practical jokester. He will be sadly missed.

In addition to his mother, Millie, of Meadville, Roy is survived by a daughter Brooke Artman of Fresno, CA, a sister Nancy Artman Metz and her husband Greg of Greensburg, a brother Daniel Artman and his wife Mary Ellen of Pittsburgh, his nieces and nephews Olivia and Clay Metz of Greensburg, Luke and John Artman of Pittsburgh, Jeremy Artman of Texas, Ryan and Adam Artman of Meadville, Casey Collier of Venango, and his girlfriend Michelle L. Jackson of Cochranton.

In addition to his father, Roy was preceded in death by two brothers Thomas E. Artman and Howard 'Doc' W. Artman.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church a later date which will be announced.

Memorial contributions may be made to Meadville Public Library, 848 N. Main Street, or Humane Society of Crawford County, 11012 Kennedy Hill Road, both in Meadville, PA 16335.

Private interment will take place in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Twp.

Arrangements are under the direction of Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.
