Rucklyn Alexander Forbes, 69, of 20509 Hwy. 285 Cochranton, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2016 at home, surrounded by his family.
Rucklyn was born in West Moreland, Jamaica on June 3, 1947, a son of the late Stainton Forbes and Doris Brown and was raised by his great grandmother, Priscilla Brown.
On February 14, 2015 Rucklyn married Ava-Ann Yenieck Waite; she survives.
He was affiliated with United Faith Fellowship Church, Meadville and while living in West Palm Beach, FL, he was a member of the Church of God where he served as a Deacon.
For many years Rucklyn was a self employed semi truck driver, hauling throughout the US. Most recently he drove primarily between PA and Ohio. Aside from being his job, trucking was something Rucklyn enjoyed doing. While living in West Palm Beach, FL, Rucklyn owned a fish market and along with his partner, owned and operated a charter boat for ten years. Rucklyn had also worked as an electrician for a few years. He attended schools in Jamaica and attended both Electrician as well as Aviation Schools in Florida. He had developed a great passion for flying. His other hobbies included fishing and doing mechanic work on his semi trucks.
In addition to his wife, Ava-Ann, Rucklyn is survived by five children Robert Forbes and his wife Karen of Montego Bay, Jamaica, Heather Forbes, Thandi Garnett and her husband Brian, both of Maryland, Stephanie Forbes of Atlanta, GA, Shanika Forbes of New Jersey, six grandchildren, four sisters Carmel White of the United Kingdom, Josephine Phipps of Montego Bay, Jamaica, Catherine Johnson of Kingston, Jamaica, Nerissa Johnson Florida, a brother Ansel Forbes of Montego Bay, Jamaica, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Rucklyn was preceded in death by his great grandmother, Priscilla Brown, a sister and two brothers.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2015 at 2:00 PM at United Faith Fellowship Church, 561 State St., Meadville, with Rev. Markus McDaniel, Pastor, officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.
