Ruth L. Garnavish

Mrs. Ruth L. Garnavish, 96, of Meadville passed away Friday, July 24, 2020 at Wesbury United Methodist Community

Ruth was born in Black Ash on August 13, 1923, the daughter of the late Earl and Grace (Rodgers) Hunt.

On March 13, 1946 Ruth married Anthony N. "Tad" Garnavish; he preceded her in death on November 12, 2010.

In 1988 Ruth retired from the former J.C. Penny Co. of Meadville after 23 years of service mainly in the men's department and later returned on a part-time basis until the store closing in 1991. She previously had been employed by the former American Viscose of Meadville where she worked in the Conning Dept. for seven years. A 1941 graduate of Randolph High School, Ruth was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ and the Order of the Eastern Star. She participated in bowling and golfing leagues, was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting.

Ruth is survived by three children Gary E. Garnavish (Wanda) of Moseley, VA, Diana G. Teasdale, Debbe Jo Colwell both of Meadville, four grandchildren, Christine Heslinga, Kimberly Ingebretsen, Kathryn Garnavish, Heather Garnavish, four great grandchildren Eleanor Heslinga, Audrey Heslinga, Asher Ingebretsen, Alaina Ingebretsen, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, and her husband, Anthony, of 64 years, Ruth was preceded in death by three brothers Virgil, Carl and Berton Hunt, two sisters Mable Applegate, Helen Burkholder and a son in law William Teasdale.

Per Ruth's request, no public visitation or services will be held.

Ruth will be laid to rest next to her husband, Anthony, in Greendale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 1070 Park Ave., Meadville, PA 16335.
