Salvatore 'Sal' J. Cassara

Salvatore 'Sal' J. Cassara, 73, of 1345 Lamont Dr., Meadville, passed away Tuesday, January 4th, 2011 at Abington Nursing Home & Rehab, Erie.
Sal was born in New Rochelle, NY on October 15, 1937, a son of the late Jack and Nan Marie (Blake) Cassara.
He was a member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, Meadville, where he was active in the Renew Group.
For more than 25 years Sal owned and operated Crawford County Pest Control. He was a member of the Italian Civic Club (ICC) where he had served as an officer. Sal enjoyed playing cards, especially Gin.
Sal is survived by a son Dr. John C. Cassara of Erie, two grandchildren Jacob and Jordan Cassara, a sister Nan Marie Caruso and her husband Ronnie of Connecticut, two brothers Calvin Cassara and his wife Lee of Connecticut, Stephen Cassara and his wife Toni of New York, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Sal was preceded in death by his wife Janet.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 5-8 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, PA 16335, where a scripture service will be conducted at 7:30 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 7th, 2011, with Fr. Mark OHern, Pastor of St. Brigid, officiating.
