Searcy 'Short man' Caldwell, 88, of 219 Chestnut St., Apt. 303, Meadville, passed away November 25, 2013 at the Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown.
Searcy was born in Forrest City, AR, on September 15, 1925, a son of the late Sammie Lee and Marthan (Shelton) Caldwell.
He was baptized at Salem Baptist Church by Rev. Dudley.
His long time companion, Delores Feltenberger preceded him in death on June 7, 1987.
Searcy was a self employed mason and had also worked for other contractors. He enjoyed playing cards, shooting dice and listening to Blues music.
Searcy is survived by a daughter Leola Green of Grand Rapids, MI, one step daughter Charlotte Lucas and her husband Tim of California, many step grandchildren, a sister Evelyn Ruth Canada, of Kankahee IL, a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and Delores, Searcy was preceded in death by two step sons Ronald Lee Overton, Larry Overton, a step daughter Emmaline Edwards, three sisters Essie Hamilton, Mahala Spencer, Nevelyn Sanders, a brother Lessie Caldwell, several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, December 2, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where a Homecoming Service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Berta Newsome Jones, Pastor of United Faith Fellowship Church, officiating.
