Sharon J. Ogden, 66, of 357 Willow St. Meadville, passed away Wednesday, October 13th, 2010 at Meadville Medical Center.
Sharon was born in Philadelphia on June 24, 1944, a daughter of the late Edward and Estelle L. (Armstrong) Ogden, Jr..
Following the tradition set by her mom, Sharon was a dedicated member of St. Johns Full Gospel Missionary Baptist Church, Meadville, where she served as Chairman of the Trustee Board, Director of the Church Library, Teacher of the New Membership Class and was involved in The Womens Ministry. Ten years ago she started the Breast Cancer Awareness Breakfast which met at the church and has grown every year since.
After 36 years of service, Sharon retired on July 30, 2010 from Meadville Medical Center where she worked in the Surgical Department as a Ward Secretary. She was a 1962 graduate of Meadville High School. A strong supporter of our community, Sharon was as a volunteer for Womens Services, Meadville, promoting an end to domestic violence. She served on the Mental Health Domestic Crisis Team at Meadville Medical Center. Sharon was involved with the C.E.L.L. Group for Women and could be seen on television as a spokesperson for breast cancer awareness. She had a deep love for children.
Sharon is survived by four children Stephen A Ogden and his wife Sarah of Detroit, MI, Rodney C. Ogden of Meadville, Troy D. Ogden and his wife Kim of Erie, Tiffany 'Alisha' Ogden of Meadville, seven grandchildren Devin M. Bauer, Tiara M. Ogden, Darnesha G. Neal, Jasmine J. Ogden, Annaliese Ogden, Lucas H. Ogden, Nicholas S. Ogden, two sisters Edwina Hogan, Brenda Bryant both of Pittsburgh, two nieces and nephews Keith Ogden, Sr., Janene Hogan, Ted Willis and Terri Hogan.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, October 17, from 5-9 at St. Johns Full Gospel Missionary Baptist Church, 792 N. Main Street, Meadville where a time of sharing and celebrating the life of Sharon will take place at 8:00 PM.
A Homecoming Service will be held at St. Johns Full Gospel Missionary Baptist Church, at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 18th, 2010 with Bishop Stanley K. Smith, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will take place in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
