Sheila Mae (Frantz) Wood

May 24, 1971 — July 28, 2024

Saegertown, PA

Sheila Mae (Frantz) Wood, 53, of Saegertown, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, July 28th, 2024, following a tragic incident. She was surrounded by family at Meadville Medical Center.

Sheila was born in Meadville on May 24th, 1971, the daughter of Marilyn (Webster) and the late Dennis Frantz Sr.

On April 16, 1999, Sheila married Dean Wood in Clark, PA; he survives.

Sheila was the CFO of Imperial Carbide, Inc., Meadville, where she worked with colleagues whom she proudly considered family. She previously held various roles in computer hardware, software development in both the manufacturing and medical industries, and was a proud business owner of Wood Technologies, Inc. for many years. She proudly developed and patented Dynasty Software for surgical instrument tracking which was her greatest professional accomplishment. From humble beginnings, Sheila was self-made.

An avid golfer, Sheila could often be found on a golf course with friends or family, and was a member of various golf leagues over the years. She was a wine connoisseur and enjoyed trips to the casino with her girlfriends, traveling, doing a puzzle, reading, and was known to be a lover of bourbon and a good Old Fashioned. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her beloved family anywhere she could, especially on a golf course, at the Lake, and by a fire with her dogs in her lap. Unmatched was time spent with her children and her treasured grandchildren Amelia, Parker, and Cohen Sutter.

She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Dean Wood and her greatest blessings, their children, Megan Wood (Trey Morrison) of Conneaut Lake, Mackenzie Sutter (Brandon) of Meadville, David Bradley (Katie) of Guys Mills, Mitchell Wood (Julia) of Meadville, and her mini-me, Dalaney Wood (Keegan Gaub) of Meadville. Raising her children together with Dean was her absolute greatest accomplishment in her eyes. She is further survived by her mother, Marilyn Frantz of Meadville; mother-in-law, Gail Wood of Saegertown; sister Denise Passilla of Meadville; brother Dennis Frantz (Heather) of Meadville; sister-in-law Denise Robison (Robert) of Saegertown; nieces Marissa Robison, Miranda Fisher (Greg), Makenna Robison, Miquel Scott (Iain), and Abbey Passilla; nephews John Macken (Rachel), Nicholas Frantz, and Dennis Frantz III. Sheila considered, treated, and loved her nieces and nephews like her own children. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins many of whom are from Townville, which Sheila cherished as her roots.

Sheila was preceded in death by her father Dennis Frantz Sr., brother Larry Frantz, father-in-law Donald Wood, step-father Ray Mattocks, aunt Sally Hunter, and nephew Joshua Frantz.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 12-3 PM and from 5-8 PM at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 404 CHESTNUT ST. MEADVILLE.

Visitation will also be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 10-11 AM at New Beginnings Church of God, 13226 Leslie Road, Meadville where Funeral Services will follow at 11 AM, with Fr. Jeff Lucas, of The Epiphany of the Lord Parish, officiating.

Family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Meadville Medical Center and the Meadville first responders for their unwavering dedication to Sheila and the family in their ultimate time of need.

As a final gift, in true Sheila fashion, she continued giving to others as a C.O.R.E donor.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in Sheila’s memory to The Meadville Medical Center Foundation, 736 Liberty St. or Women’s Services, 204 Spring St., both in Meadville, PA 16335.

If flowers are going to be sent to the funeral home, instead of fresh cut flowers, the family prefers wild flowers or perennials, so they may be planted in remembrance of Sheila at her and Dean’s newly built dream home which she dubbed Wood Manor.
