Shirley Ann Weed

Shirley Ann Weed, 75, of Meadville, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2024, at UPMC-Hamot, surrounded by her family.

Shirley was born in Erie, on July 28, 1948, a daughter of the late Robert L. Cage, Sr.

On July 1, 1966 Shirley married Richard Lee Weed; he survives.

She was a member of First Baptist Church.

For 30 years Shirley provided loving, in-home child care to many children whose lives she enriched. While her daughter was growing up, she was involved with Girl Scouts. She had a passion for crocheting and gifted countless items to family, friends and nursing home residents. Her dedication to family was unwavering as they were her life. Shirley will be sadly missed.

In addition to her husband, Richard, of 57 years, Shirley is survived by three children Randy Weed (Byron) of Townville, Jason Weed (Rose) of Meadville, Heather Nay (Chuck) of Greenville; six grandchildren Jordan (Julie), Logan (Tess), Anthony (Cecily), Jacob, Brooke (Colton), Brodie; six great grandchildren Eden, Annelie, Hollis, Marcella, Liliana, Kayden; two brothers Robert Cage, Jr. (Karen) of Meadville, Jeffery Cage (Kim) of Lucedale, MS; dear friends John and Paula Newhard of Saegertown; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her father, Shirley was preceded in death by two sisters Peggy Ferreira, Debbie Luikart and her step mother Ruth.

Family and friends are invited to call from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, with Rev. Jerry Walton, Pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.

Shirley will be laid to rest in Venango Cemetery.
