Shirley (Johnson) Coon Boyd, 81, of Saegertown, passed away just one day before her 82nd birthday on Friday, June 16, 2017 at Marquette Hospice House, Meadville.

Shirley was born on June 17, 1935, in Meadville, a daughter of the late Walter and Etta (Bunnell) Johnson.

On August 2, 1935 Shirley married George Allen Coon; he preceded her in death on March 13, 1999. Subsequently she married Charles Eugene Boyd on June 3, 2006; he preceded her in death on October 8, 2007.

Shirley graduated from Meadville High School in 1953.

Over the years Shirley had been employed by the former F. W. Woolworth Co., Meadville News, Buffalo News Co., Talon, Inc., Abex and Lord Corporation in Cambridge Springs. For many years she and George operated a dairy farm north of Mosiertown, along with their sons and their families. Then she lived the latter part of her life on the Keith Boyd farm near Mosiertown. Shirley was a devoted member of Saegertown Community Church and Saegertown Heritage Society. Her hobbies included reading, cross stitching, doing jigsaw puzzles, attending church activities and spending time with her many friends and relatives.

Survivors include her three children Betsy McDowell and her husband David of Meadville, Dale Coon and his companion Toni Brink, Brett Coon and his wife Connie both of Mosiertown, four grandchildren Scot Coon of Nebraska, Michelle Coon and her companion Clay Callahan of Meadville, Jennifer Coon of Cambridge Springs, Maggie Coon of Ohio, three step daughters and their families, all of the Duncansville/Hollidaysburg area, seven step grandsons, one step great grandson, brothers in law Arnold Coon of OH, Raymond Coon and his wife Flo of Meadville, Melvin Coon and his wife Terri of IN, sisters in law Alvira Peterson and her husband Homer, Shirley Layman of AZ, Harriett Hoffman and her husband Wayne of Meadville, Judy Coon of Meadville, Karen Johnson and her husband Ray of Cochranton, Wilma Means and her husband Darrell of Saegertown, Carol Coon and Dorothy Coon, both of Meadville. On the Boyd side of the family also surviving are brothers in law Keith Boyd and his wife Bev of Saegertown, Walter Boyd and his wife Roxann, sister in law Delores Ray of Ligonier, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husbands, Shirley was preceded in death by an infant son Frank Allen Coon, two infant great grandchildren Hunter Lawrence Callahan and Sierra Ann Callahan.

Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 4-8 at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 330 BROAD ST., SAEGERTOWN, and also on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 from 11-1 at Saegertown Community Church, 604 Main St., Saegertown, where Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM with Pastor Richard Haemer officiating.

Shirley will be laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Vernon Twp.
