Shirley J. Temple

Shirley J. Temple, 94, of Meadville, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Wesbury United Methodist Community.

Shirley was born at home in Fredericksburg, on February 15, 1929, a daughter of the late Rex Henry and Alice Stewart.

On October 27, 1951 Shirley married Kenneth Temple; he preceded her in death on May 22, 2009.

She was a member of Saegertown United Methodist Church.

At the age of 48 Shirley earned her degree as a Registered Nurse from Loma Linda University, Loma Linda, CA. She was also a faithful volunteer for the American Red Cross. She was a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution, of The Woodcock Ladies, and a charter member of The Red Hat Society. She served as a docent at the Baldwin Reynolds House. She was a talented artist who enjoyed oil painting for many years, and upon moving to Meadville began painting with water colors. She shared her talent for painting by teaching art at the Senior Center in Meadville.

Shirley is survived by four children Keith Temple (Susan), Barry Temple (Angela), Lori Anderson (Eric) all of CA, David Temple of Meadville; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, and husband, Kenneth, of 57 years, Shirley was preceded in death by a son Douglas Temple; siblings Raymond, Lillian, Verna and Katherine.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, with Pastor Jeff Little of Saegertown United Methodist Church officiating.
