Shirley P. Manross

Shirley P. Manross, 87, of Saegertown, passed away Monday, March 8, 2021, at Crawford County Care Center.

Shirley was born in Meadville, on October 17, 1933, a daughter of the late Roy "Pappy" and Margaret (George) Black.

On July 10, 1955 Shirley married August Eugene "Gene" Manross; he survives.

She was a member of Twelve Apostles Lutheran Church, Saegertown.

Following her 1952 graduation from Saegertown High School, Shirley became employed by the former Meadville Drive Inn Theater. She later became employed by the former Talon, Inc. of Meadville until she became a full time homemaker. A member of Woodcock Ladies Club, Shirley was also a member of Woodcock Center Grange where she served as Treasurer. She served on the Board of Gravel Run Cemetery and was a member of TOPS and of a knitting club. Shirley delighted in raising her children and taking care of her family. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, gardening and canning. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be sadly missed.

In addition to her husband, Gene, of 65 years, Shirley is survived by three children Paul Manross, Clifford Manross (Sandy), Mary "Annie" Manross, all of Saegertown; three grandchildren Rebecca Manross (companion Josh Douglas) of Saegertown, Holly Manross (companion Floyd "Bud" Curry) of Cambridge Springs, Dr. Jason Manross (Clarissa) of Meadville; eight great grandchildren Breanna Manross, Hannah Manross, Savanna Manross, Wyatt Douglas, Campbell Manross, Lennox Manross, Jaxon Manross, Colton Manross; a sister Betty Bisbee of Cambridge Springs; two brothers Richard Black (Jean) of Meadville, William "Bill" Black (Pam), of Saegertown; a granddaughter in law Jess Manross of Cambridge Springs; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by a grandson Joseph Manross; infant great grandson Brayden James Curry; and a brother Charles Black.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, March 12, 2021, from 4-7 PM, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, March 13, 2021, with Pastor Norman Aabye of Open Door Baptist Church officiating. CDC guidelines will be followed.

Shirley will be laid to rest in Gravel Run Cemetery.
