Stanley P. Giewont

Stanley P. Giewont, 80, of 16547 Hwy. 198, Saegertown, passed away Saturday, January 16th, 2010, surrounded by his family, at UPMC Passavant, Pittsburgh, after battling a short illness.
Stanley was born in Edinboro on February 7, 1929, a son of the late John and Mary (Zajac) Giewont.
On October 31, 1959 Stanley married Frances Pangerc.
He was an active member of St. Bernadettes Roman Catholic Church, Saegertown, where he participated in the Parish Council, was an Eucharist Minister, President of Mens Club and an active member of the Crawford County Cursillo Movement.
A life-time farmer, Stanley had operated a family roadside vegetable stand for the last 40 years. He had retired from Perry Plastic/Comptech in Erie as an injection mold supervisor after 32 years of service. An outdoorsman, Stanley was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed polka music, taking family vacations and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his loving wife Frances of 50 years, Stanley is survived by a daughter Karen Giewont Osborn of Erie, two sons Kenneth Giewont and his wife Louise of NY, Mark Giewont and his wife Kathy of VA, seven grandchildren Christine, Allison, Steven, Kevin, Thomas, Hanna, Hope, a brother Charles Giewont and his wife Phyllis of Albion, a sister Pauline Rutkowski of Erie and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Stanley was preceded in death by six brothers Joe, Frank, Andrew, Albert, John and Michael Giewont, three sisters Annette Karpic, Mary McLaughlin Cooney and Agnes Gora.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, PA 16335 where a scripture service will be conducted at 8:30.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bernadettes Roman Catholic Church, Renner Ave., Saegertown, at 10:00 on Thursday, January 21st, 2010 with Fr. Robert Fedor as celebrant.
Interment will take place in St. Brigid Cemetery, Meadville.
