Stephen Thomas Singer, 69, of Saegertown, PA passed away on Friday December 1, 2023 at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie, PA surrounded by loved ones following a period of declining health and some time spent at the Soldiers and Sailors Rehabilitation Hospital in Erie, PA.


He was born on March 19, 1954 in Mt. Vernon, OH to the late Mary Lou (Siegworth) Singer. He was also adopted by John Singer. He survives.


Steve graduated from Meadville Area Sr. High in 1972 where he performed in the school's marching band. He played the trombone and attended the State Championship in Florida during that time.


He went on to serve in the US Navy, serving in the states of Florida, Tennessee and Texas.


Steve married Diane Leigh Brooks of Meadville, PA in 1972. They just celebrated their 51st anniversary on November 1st. They have two daughters who survive, Christina Paden Singer (fiance' Joe Wood) of Guys Mills and Kimberly Ruhl of Meadville. He is also survived by two brothers Jeff Singer(Coleen), Jack Singer (Rebecca); eleven grandchildren Matthew Eakin, Dylan Paden, Leigh Dittrich (Tanner), Lloyd Ruhl III (girlfriend Pallas), Lita Ruhl (boyfriend Tatin), Tanner Ruhl, Alyssa and Justin Gable; three great grandchildren Matthew Eakin Jr, Seth Eakin, and Ophelia Dittrich; many several nieces and nephews.


He was employed as a welding machine operator at Ludlow and Fischer /Tru-weld in Saegertown, PA until he retired in 2016. Other places of employment included Abex and Fabrications Unlimited.


Steve was a very talented guitar player and played in many bands over the years as a hobby. Loud rock and roll was a great passion of his. He really enjoyed attending live music shows with his family and friends.  He also enjoyed cooking and eating great food. Other favorite past times include BBQ's, camping, car shows and exploring the outdoors. Mr. and Mrs. Singer were long time members of the Saegertown Legion Post 205. He was a very social person and made friends easily, especially with fellow Pittsburgh Steelers fans.


Additional survivors include two brothers Jeff Singer and his wife Colleen, Jack Singer and his wife Rebecca. Eleven grandchildren Matthew Eakin, Dylan Paden, Leigh Dittrich and her husband Tanner, Lloyd Ruhl III and his girlfriend Pallas, Lita Ruhl and her boyfriend Tatin. Tanner Ruhl, Alyssa and Justin Gable . Three great grandchildren Matthew Eakin Jr, Seth Eakin, and Ophelia Dittrich. Along with several nieces and nephews.


There will be a celebration of life memorial scheduled at a later date by the family.
