Susan J. 'Susie' Smith, 89, of 635 Grant St., PO Box 1081 Saegertown, passed away Sunday, May 6th, at Wesbury United Methodist Community, Meadville.
Susie was born in Johnsonburg, on July 28, 1922, a daughter of the late Anthony and Josephine (DiNardo) Marrone.
On November 19, 1949 Susie married John S. 'Jack' Smith, he survives. Residing in Ridgway from 1949 until 1974 when they moved to Kittanning where they lived until coming to Saegertown in 2006.
She was a member of St. Bernadettes Roman Catholic Church, Saegertown.
A loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was an excellent cook. She took great pride and enjoyed being a homemaker. Susie was an avid reader who read several books each month.
In addition to her husband Jack of 62 years, Susie is survived by three children, Jacqueline Smith and her husband Jack L. of Erie, Susan Hoffman and her husband Dennis L. of West Middlesex, John A. Smith and his wife Sandy of Saegertown, 7 grandchildren Tara Smith, Kelly Southworth and her husband Jeff, Wesley Hoffman and his wife Jen, Jessica Bahaa El Din and her husband Mohab, Kayli Styborski and her husband Randy, Shailyn Smith, Madison Smith, 5 great grandchildren Hunter, Maggie and Wyatt Hoffman, Lily Southworth, Parker Styborski a sister Clara Hotchkiss of Tonawanda, NY, a brother Alfred Marrone and his wife Vivian of Johnsonburg, 2 nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother John Marrone and a sister Mary Jane Northrup.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 7-9 at the Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 330 Broad Street Saegertown, where a scripture service will be conducted at 8:45 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bernadettes Roman Catholic Church, Saegertown, at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 9th, with Fr. David Poulson, pastor, officiating.
Interment will take place in Saegertown Cemetery, Hayfield Twp.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Saegertown Volunteer Fire Dept. PO Box 164 or the Saegertown Area Library, 325 Broad Street, both of Saegertown, PA 16433.
