Tessie (Teresa) A. Bird

Tessie (Teresa) A. Bird, 80, a lifelong resident and member of the Meadville community, passed away on Sunday morning, April 10th, 2022, while resting comfortably at Embassy of Park Ave, Meadville.

Tessie was born the daughter of Nick and Adele (Bruno) Severo on October 7, 1941, in Meadville, PA.

After attending St. Brigid’s School, Tessie graduated from Meadville High School in 1960. She married Jim Bird in 1963 and were married for 49 years, until Jim’s death in 2012. Tessie was a devout Catholic, attending Saint Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, where she was a member of The Altar Rosary Society and enjoyed volunteering in support of her congregation. She was a member of VFW Post #2006, Italian Civic Club (ICC) and its Auxiliary, and was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Meadville Aerie #429. Her hobbies included spending time with her sister, socializing with friends, movies, pop culture, and getting her hair done on Fridays. She was a woman who was many things to many people – daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend who was loyal, helpful, meticulous and caring.

Tessie is survived by her son James N. Bird;, daughter Valerie Bird-Stanford and her husband, Craig Stanford; her sister Gloria Shea of Meadville; her two brothers, Pete Severo and his wife Shirley of Meadville, Ron Severo and his wife Barbera of Erie; numerous nieces and nephews. Tessie was a lover of many animals, especially her little Yorkie, Bella. Rest in peace, Tessie.

At Tessie’s request, there will be no visitation.

A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 AM, on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at The Epiphany of the Lord Parish, Saint Mary of Grace Church, 1085 Water St. Meadville, with Fr. Joe Petrone, Parochial Vicar, officiating.

Tessie will be laid to rest with her husband, Jim, in St. Brigid Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Epiphany of the Lord Parish, 353 Pine St., Meadville, PA 16335.
