Thelma Garnavish, 89, of 334 Lincoln Ave. Meadville, PA, passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at home.
Thelma was born in Woodcock Twp., on June 25, 1921, a daughter of the late Mary Flocena 'Flo' (Shellhamer) and Don S. Ewing.
On January 17, 1942 Thelma married John W. 'Bill' Garnavish; he preceded her in death on November 10, 2003.
She was of the Protestant Faith.
In 1939 Thelma graduated from the former Randolph High School. For many years she was employed by the former American Viscose. She was a life member of both the Saegertown Volunteer Fire Dept. Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #2006 Auxiliary. Her greatest joy was being with and helping family and friends.
Thelma is survived by a son Richard W. Garnavish and his wife Judith, a step granddaughter Kimberly Adsit, a step great grandson Joseph Warren all of Meadville, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband John W. 'Bill' Garnavish of 61 years, Thelma was preceded in death by a daughter Patricia Ann Garnavish, a sister Clara E. Peterman, five brothers Harry A., William R., Robert A., Williard E. and Don E. Ewing.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, PA 16335 where Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 6th, 2010 with Pastor David Ewing officiating.
Interment will take place in Greendale Cemetery West Mead Twp., PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine St., Meadville, PA 16335.
