Thelma Mae Johnson, 88, of 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Wesbury United Methodist Community, Meadville.
Thelma was born in Uniontown, on July 12, 1928, a daughter of the late William R. and Bessie M. (Herring) Johnson.
She was a member of First Assembly of God where she had served in the Children's Ministry and was involved in the Singles Group.
Thelma was employed by General Motors for 30 years where she worked on the Assembly Line and in Quality Control. Following her retirement, she provided child care services in her home, as she loved children and was always willing to baby sit. Her hobbies included bowling. Thelma was a wonderful woman who was willing to help anyone, in anyway she could. Her love of family and friends was deep. She enjoyed hosting many holiday dinners at her home and she loved having a house full of people. There are not enough words to describe the love and gratitude she deserves. She will be sadly missed.
Thelma is survived by nephews David Ray Johnson, Jr., Timothy Johnson, a niece Sarah Walsh, great nieces Lisa Johnson, Amy Hurd and her husband John, Dawn Johnson and her fiancé Mark Davis, Allexis Walsh and her fiancé Jereld Jackson, great nephews Jeremy Johnson, Thomas Walsh, great great niece Kala Hurd, Mya Jackson, great great nephews Zachariah Hurd, Joshua Hurd, Isaiah Hurd, Brandon Jackson and many more nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Bessie and Bill Johnson, Thelma was preceded in death by two brothers David Ray Johnson, Sr. and his wife Elizabeth, Tommy Johnson and his wife June, a sister Ruth Miller and her husband Albert and a niece Becky Johnson.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, from 4-5 PM at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where Funeral Services will be held at 5:00 PM
Thelma will be laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Vernon Twp.
Arrangements are under the direction of STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.
