Violet B. Garner

Violet B. Garner, 96, of 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, formerly of 533 Baldwin St., Meadville, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Wesbury United Methodist Community.

Violet was born in Climax on May 24, 1921, a daughter of the late Jesse H. and B. May (Hetrick) Buzzard, Sr.

On July 6, 1949 Violet married Benjamin H. Garner; he preceded her in death on April 24, 1980.

She was an active member of Church of the Nazarene, Meadville, where she served as Missionary President, Youth Sunday School Teacher and as Church Treasurer for 48 years.

For more than 40 years Violet was employed by the former Talon, Inc. of Meadville. In 1939 she graduated from Sligo High School, Sligo. She enjoyed traveling and every summer attending a ten day Church Camp which was located at Mount Chestnut in Butler. Violet was very dedicated to her church. She will be remembered as a a very loving sister, aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Violet is survived by a sister Ruby M. Kamerer of East Brady, a brother William I. Buzzard and his wife Marian of Ransomville, NY, a sister-in-law Sylvia Garner of Meadville, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband Benjamin of 30 years, Violet was preceded in death by an infant daughter Karen May Garner, a sister Grace Thompson, three brothers Frank Buzzard, Roy Buzzard and Jesse Buzzard, Jr.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 2-5 at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST. MEADVILLE, and also on Friday from 10-11 AM at Church of the Nazarene, 851 Washington St., Meadville, where Funeral Services will be held at 11:00, with Rev. Rod Johnson, officiating.

Violet will be laid to rest with her husband, Benjamin, in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Twp.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Nazarene, 851 Washington St., Meadville.
