Virginia "Ginny" Yurisic, 74, of Meadville, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2024, at St. Vincent Health System.
Ginny was born in Meadville, on December 18, 1949, a daughter of the late Charles C. and Elizabeth (Funciello) Yurisic.
She was a lifetime member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, Meadville.
Ginny retired from Crawford Central School District in 2004 after 33 years of service. Beginning her career in 1971 as a third grade teacher at the former Third District Elementary School for three years, the majority of her professional career was as the Librarian at West End Elementary School. She was a 1967 graduate of Meadville Area High School and a 1971 graduate of Edinboro State College where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and Elementary Library Science. Ginny's family was very important to her. She will be remembered for her kindness and love to care for others over herself. She will be missed.
Ginny is survived by a sister Nancy Moeller (Rainer) of Montevallo, AL, a brother Mark Yurisic (Karen) of Meadville, an aunt Paula Fish of Maryland, four nieces and nephews Debra Benz (Rob), Chad Yurisic (Sarah), Carrie Williams (John), Cory A. Yurisic (Whitney) several great nieces and nephews as well as several cousins.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by aunts and uncles, with whom she was very close.
Family and friends are invited to call from 2-5 on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where a Scripture Service will be held at 4:30 PM.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, at St. Mary of Grace Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, with Fr. Kyle Seyler, Parochial Vicar, officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made in Ginny's Memory to The Epiphany of the Lord Parish, 353 Pine St., Meadville, PA 16335.
Ginny will be laid to rest in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Township.
