"Virginia" Ruth Bacon Fleming

(Virginia) Ruth Bacon Fleming, age 92, formerly of Saegertown, died peacefully on July 8, 2017 at Ocala Oaks in Ocala, FL.

She was born Sept 21, 1924 in Spangler, PA, the daughter of James and Marie (Esch) Bacon.  She graduated from Green Township High School in 1942, and worked in a Federal Laboratory making hand grenades during WWII.  Ruth graduated from Indiana State College in Indiana, PA in 1948.  She taught home economics first at Greenville High School, and then for 19 years at Cambridge Springs High School where she went on to become the Supervisor of Home Economics for Penncrest School District.  She retired in 1979.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law William Titus; a sister Sue Bacon Orr; a sister-in-law Nancy Bacon; a brother-in-law Keith Edwards, and her husband of 62 years, William Francis Fleming (2004).
 
She is survived by three daughters: Dian Williams and her husband Lloyd with whom she resided since 2007 in The Villages, FL; Susan Bardeen and her husband Alan of Saegertown; and Rebecca Titus of Saegertown.  Seven grandchildren: Jeff (Nan) Williams of Cincinnati, OH; Jennifer (Steve) Rose of Simpsonville, SC; Beth (Jason) Guillaume of Yorkana, PA; Carrie Redman (David Hernandez) of Wellsville, NY; Amy (Thomas) Nowacki of Kirtland, OH; Ben (Kristen) Titus of Hillsborough, NC; Edward Titus (Rachel Bowman) of Chicago, IL and fourteen great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by one brother- John Bacon of Cabot, PA, and one sister- Wilma Edwards of Phoenix, AZ. 
 
Ruth was a member of Saegertown United Methodist Church for 67 years where she was active in Women's Society, Chancel Choir, Yometha Class, and Christian Education.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 19, 2017, at 4:00 PM, Saegertown United Methodist Church, 620 Euclid Ave., Saegertown, with Rev. Darrell L. Greenawalt, Pastor, officiating.
