Walter "Sonny" J. Chisholm, Jr.

Walter "Sonny" J. Chisholm, Jr., 86, of Meadville, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Wesbury United Methodist Community.

Sonny was born in Meadville on February 13, 1934, a son of the late Walter J. and Blanche (Doubet) Chisholm, Sr.

On May 25, 1957 Sonny married Wynima J. Schlosser; she survives.

He was a member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, Meadville.

After 42 years of service Sonny retired on February 18, 1994 from the former Talon, Inc. where he had been employed in the Stock Room. In 1995 he starting working at the Country Club mowing and maintaining the greens. He was a 1952 graduate of Meadville High School and a former member of Hayfield Grange. His hobbies included gardening, hunting and winemaking.

In addition to his wife, Wynima, of 63 years, Sonny is survived by three children Joseph Chisholm and his wife Crystal of Meadville, James Chisholm and his wife Michelle of King George, VA, Jack Chisholm and his husband Dr. Steven Culley of Phoeniz, AZ, four grandchildren Sara Chisholm, Megan Donnarumma and her husband Nick, Tyler Chisholm, Jared Chisholm, a sister Elizabeth Olds of Sugar Grove, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Sonny was preceded in death by a sister Kathleen Heckman and a nephew Robert Olds.

A private Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville, Fr. Jeffrey Lucas, pastor officiating.

Sonny was laid to rest in St. Brigid Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Sonny's memory to West Mead Volunteer Fire Dept.#2, 20607 Ryan Road or St. Brigid Church C/O Catholic Community of Meadville, 353 Pine Street, both of Meadville, PA 16335.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all of those at Mead II and at Wesbury United Methodist Community for the kindness and great care they provided. It will not be forgotten.
