Walter "Wally" Peter Wysocki

Walter "Wally" Peter Wysocki, 94, of Meadville, passed away Monday, May 2, 2022, at Meadville Medical Center.
 
Wally was born in Meadville, on September 3, 1927, a son of the late Peter and Mary Wysocki.
 
On July 29, 1967 Walter married Anna D. Marcinko; she preceded him in death on February 4, 2008.
 
He was a long time member of St. Brigid Church.
 
After 46 years of service, Wally retired in 1990 from Conrail, which was previously known as Erie Lackawanna Railroad and Erie Railroad.  For most of his career he worked as a heavy equipment operator and was responsible for removing damaged freight cars from derailment scenes.  He possessed a strong work ethic and had a tremendous knowledge of all things railroad.  A WW II veteran, Wally entered the US Air Force on November 26, 1945 and served his country honorably until his discharge on November 25, 1949.  He was awarded the Occupation Medal and the WW II Victory Medal. He was a graduate of Meadville High School and attended Second District Elementary School.  A member of VFW Post #2006, Wally was also a member of Saegertown American Legion Post #205, the Meadville Elks Club, the Italian Civic Club, the Meadville Eagles Club, the former Sertoma Club and the former Meadville Club.  Over the years he enjoyed traveling, woodworking, fishing, and cooking, especially catering with his late brother-in-law, Lou Saggio.  Wally will be sadly missed.
 
Wally is survived by three children; Jeanne D. Sippy, Ann Bufalino, both of Meadville, a son, Walter Wysocki (Kathy) of Savannah, GA; six grandchildren, Stephen Galle, Bridget Robinson, Danielle Cochran, Duncan Galle, Kathrine Baker, Natalie Munro; seven great grandchildren Mazey Miller, Winifred Munro, twins Harriet and Walter Munro, Kate Cochran, Nicholas Cochran, Grant Robinson; numerous nieces and nephews.
 
In addition to his parents and his wife, Anna, of 40 years, Wally was preceded in death by his four sisters Helen Markle, Bertie Formanik, Elizabeth Sorgen, Victoria "Vicky" Zarzeczny; and his great grandson, Christian Cochran.
 
Family and friends are invited to call from 3-6 PM on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE. 
 
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday, May 6, 2022, at The Epiphany of the Lord Parish, St. Brigid Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville with Fr. Jeff Lucas, Pastor, officiating.
 
Wally will be laid to rest in St. Brigid Cemetery with Full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006.
