Will Dickson, 93, of 657 Jefferson Street, Meadville, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Meadville Medical Center.
Will was born in Ebony, AR on September 1, 1919, a son of the late Ed and Mary (Robertson) Dickson.
On June 24, 1950, will married Frances Barksdale; she survives.
He was a 40 year member of St. John Missionary Full Gospel Baptist Church where he enjoyed singing gospel songs in the choir for many years.
In 1984, Will retired from the former Abex. He previous was employed by the former Meadville Mallable and General Electric in Erie. A veteran of World War II, Will served in the US Army from February 8, 1943 until his honorable discharge on July 20, 1945. He was a member of the Giblim Masonic Lodge #29 and of Prince Hall Grand Masonic Lodge of PA. Will loved to fish and he enjoyed following baseball, especially the Cleveland Indians.
In addition to his wife, Frances of 62 years, Will is survived by a son Fredrick Caywood of Orange County, CA, seven grandchildren Gary Manning of Meadville, Debra, Fred, Daniel, Oliver, Drew, Shenita all of California and Chicago, IL., many great grandchildren, a host of friends, cousins and nieces.
In addition to his parents, Will was preceded in death by a daughter, Deidra Manning two sisters, Ruby Doyle, Lucy Bates, four brothers Clarence, Joe Ben, twin brothers James and John Dickson.
Family and Friends are invited to call on Saturday from 11-1 at St. John Missionary Full Gospel Baptist Church, 792 North Main Street, Meadville, where a Homecoming Service will be held at 1 PM with Bishop Stanley Smith, Pastor, officiating.
Interment with full military honors by VFW Post #2006, will take place in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
