William A. Mosley, Sr., 92, of 1188 Market Street Meadville, passed away Sunday, March 28th, 2010 at Wesbury United Methodist Community.
William was born in Vaughn, MS on August 9, 1917, a son of the late Joe and Bessie (Hollins) Mosley.
In March, 1941, William married Eleanor Bass; she preceded him in death on August 31, 1976.
In the early 1980s William retired from Erie Casting. He had previously been employed by the former Meadville Mallable. Prior to moving to Meadville in 1942 William had been employed as a truck driver for Coal Brothers and Fox in Canton, MS. He attended public schools in Yazoo County, MS. A baseball enthusiast, William was a big fan of the Cleveland Indians. He enjoyed working in his garden and doing yard work.
William is survived by six children William F. Mosley, Jr. of Meadville, Dolores M. Mosley of Lomita, CA, Allen Mosley, Larry Mosley and his wife Janet, Carol A. Mosley all of Meadville, Debra Jane Mosley of Erie, 10 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, three sisters Mary Johnson and her husband Edwin of New Orleans, LA, Cornelia Giles of Lexington, MS, Doris J. Moore of Benton, MS, four sisters-in-law Ethel Bass of Meadville, Lucille Mosley of Vaughn, MS, Margaret Nicholson of Indianapolis, IN, Daisy Johnson of Winter Park, FL, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his wife Eleanor of 35 years, William was preceded in death by three children Robert E. Mosley, Helen Lawrence, Susan Lynn Mosley-Brown, three brothers Jerry Mosley, Joe Mosley, Joe Walker, two sisters Wilhelmina Barton and Mary Morris.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, PA 16335.
A Homecoming Service will be conducted at United Faith Fellowship, Meadville, PA, at 1:30 PM on Saturday, April 3rd, 2010 with Rev. Berta Newsome, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will take place in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
