William "Bill" L. Peiffley

William L. Peiffley (Bill, Peiff), 84, of Saegertown, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Meadville Medical Center.

Bill was born in Meadville, on November 20, 1936, a son of the late Joseph G. and Helen K. (Luce) Peiffley.

On June 10, 1994, Bill married Wanita Monroe; she survives. Bill was preceded in death by first wife, Dorothy Whitehead on April 21, 1985.

A 1956 graduate of Saegertown Junior/Senior High School, Bill went on to attend Edinboro University earning a Bachelor of Science degree with a Major in Geography. He returned to Saegertown High School to teach Geography and English for 33 years before retiring from PENNCREST School District in 1992. At Saegertown, he coached junior high football for 20 years. He also coached wrestling for 26 years, where as head coach, he sent numerous boys to the PIAA State Championships including his own son, Bob. Bill’s motto was to "give 100 percent in whatever you do”.

An avid outdoors man, Bill loved to hunt, fish, camp and water ski. Bill was a member of the Saegertown Sportsman’s Club, Meadville Sportsman’s Club, Black Ash Sportsman’s Club and a member of the Meadville B.P.O. Elk’s Lodge No. 219. In 1986 he took up archery hunting and became a member of the IBO (International Bowhunters Organization/ASA) where he enjoyed traveling to competitions on the East Coast with his wife Wanita.
 
In addition to his wife Wanita, of 27 years, Bill is survived by three children William J. Peiffley (Tammy) of Townville, Robert A. Peiffley (Rebecca) of Clarksburg, WV, Daniel W. Peiffley of Meadville; beloved grandchildren Jake, Samantha, Robert Jr., Michael, Kristin, Hannah Deets, Cameron Ward, Jesse; great grandchildren Paige, Dayna, Charlotte, Aleigha, Adrea, Marcus, Brody; step-children George, Steven, Brian, Yvonne; eight step-grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; and three cherished nieces Gwen, Brenda and Beth.

Bill was also preceded in death by a grandson Joseph K. Peiffley, and a sister Marion Peiffley.

Private Graveside Services will be held at Venango Cemetery.

Join us for a celebration of Bill's life Saturday, April 17, 2021, from 2-5 PM at Wheelock Pavilion, 15244 Centerville Road, Townville, PA  16360.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bill's memory to Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute, 16792 Conneaut Lake Road, Meadville, PA 16335.
