William Harris Porter, Jr.

William Harris Porter, Jr., 90, of Gastonia, NC, formerly of Meadville, passed away August 11, 2014 at home.

He was born in Sharon, the son of the late William Harris Porter Sr. and Opal Rebecca (Curran) Porter.

Mr. Porter is survived by his wife, Wanda (Yount) Porter of Gastonia, NC; his daughters, Valerie Heafner and her husband Tim, of Rutherfordton, NC, Penny Rimmer of Gastonia, a sister, Martha Grace Dragosavic of Pasadena, MD, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brooke Ellen Abshera, a brother, Carson Curran Porter and a sister, Anna Louise Rowland.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, with Pastor Larry Peters of First Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Following Full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006, William will be laid to rest in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
