William L. Newsome, 68, of 1201 S. Main St., Meadville, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2015, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
William was born in Coldwater, MS, on August 15, 1947, a son of the late Alvin and Emily (Hoskins) Newsome, II.
He was a member of United Faith Fellowship Church, Meadville.
For more than 25 years William was employed as a cement mason learning the trade from Bruno Harris later working for the former Crenshaw Construction Company and for Larry Gosnell. He later went on to work for himself. In his early years he was employed by the former Meadville Malleable and Dowell Drilling Company. He attended Tate County High School in Mississippi. William enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and joking around with his family and friends.
William is survived by a daughter Pamela Jones-Newsome of Coldwater, MS, a son William "Bucky" Newsome of Oil City, six granddaughters, one grandson, two great granddaughters, two great grandsons, four sisters Mary Armmer of Indianapolis, IN, Brenda Newsome Boyd, Murdal Newsome both of Meadville, Curas Newsome of Erie, four brothers Alroy Newsome of Memphis, TN, Sam Nelson of Erie, Alvin Newsome, III, Marvin Newsome both of Memphis, TN, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by a daughter Jacqueline Newsome, a sister Doris Newsome Swauncy and a brother in law George Boyd, Jr.
Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, November 7, from 11 AM-1 PM at United Faith Fellowship Church, 561 State St., Meadville, where a Homecoming Service will be held at 1:00 PM with Rev. Marvin Burnett officiating.
William will be laid to rest in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
Arrangements are under the direction of Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.
